This month, the Premier announced a Plan for Queensland's Borders. We look forward to welcoming interstate visitors again as we meet our vaccination targets and open our borders, scheduled for before Christmas. Excitement is also building for this weekend's Noosa Triathlon. We wish all the competitors good luck and look forward to seeing our retailers and hospitality vendors full of patrons. And finally, we congratulate all the Noosa businesses and individuals named Finalists in both the Noosa Biosphere Awards and Sunshine Coast Business Awards. Fast Five with Cooroy Termite & Pest Control
They may be a traditional business but Shane and wife Lorna O'Donnell have developed an innovative way to run their business. Cooroy Termite & Pest Control have found an environmentally responsible solution to traditional termite control and their goal is to stop 1000 tonne of chemical leaching into our Noosa Biosphere environment. Noosa Biosphere Awards Finalists Announced 
The Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation announced the Finalists for the inaugural Noosa Biosphere Awards 2021. Well done and congratulations to all of the entrants and finalists. Noosa Council Economic Development sponsored the People & Economy Category Award. The three finalists are: EarthTech, Plastic Free Noosa, Noosa Environmental Education Hub. Winners will be announced at the Noosa Biosphere Wild Koala Gala on Tuesday 2 November at Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas. Tickets here

Sunshine Coast Business Awards Chair Jennifer Swaine said this year’s entries were of a very high calibre, with all entrants doing a lot of work putting their entries together. Pre-Apprenticeship Support Program
A new employment based, pre-apprenticeship pathway will help more than 300 people across Queensland, while the extension of existing programs will support hundreds more. This is one of various subsidised programs to assist employers upskill their workforce. Learn more

Business Grants
COVID-19 Business Support Grants 
Applications for the 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants are now open. All eligible businesses who apply for a grant during the 3-month application period will receive funding. Applications close in November. Apply Now
Tourism & Hospitality Hardship Program 
Tourism & hospitality businesses will be able to apply for grants from the Hardship Program from October.  This will provide one off grants of up to $50,000 to eligible  businesses facing hardship as a result of restrictions & interstate lockdown. 
Noosa Economic Development Grants
Noosa Council’s Economic Development Grant Program supports projects that will have a positive impact on Noosa’s business environment, economy and encourages local partnerships.
Young Professionals Mentoring Program
The program offers a competitive edge for employees working in the tourism & hospitality industry, who wish to receive guidance from industry experts and see their career progress. Applications are opening soon & participants are matched with senior industry professionals for 6 mths from Feb to July.
Go Global Export Program
Queensland’s export-ready small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could receive support to finalise an export deal in a new market. The funding is designed to help businesses overcome specific challenges they are facing with a planned export transaction through matched funding up to $25,000.

We're currently seeking Noosa residents’ views on a revised Draft Coastal Hazard Adaptation Plan. Following more consultation and six roundtable forums, Noosa Council has developed what it considers a more "balanced and workable" plan. To see what's changed or to provide a comment.

Climate Action Response Survey
Noosa and Sunshine Coast councils have joined forces to develop a climate action roadmap to prepare for climate events and the opportunities that can come from this. This will build on the work that Noosa is already doing to address climate change, knowing that climate change is a much broader issue with regional implications. Noosa Employment Precincts Activation Roadmap
Noosa Council have secured $50,000 through the Australian Government's Building Better Regions Fund. Already highly regarded for our tech-innovation, this boost to the new strategic document will provide a roadmap to grow new diverse employment and business opportunities.
STA local law
New Short Term Stay Local Law
Noosa is set to become the first Council in Queensland to adopt a new local law to help manage the impact of short-stay and home-hosted accommodation properties on residential amenity. Coming into effect next year, the new STA local law aims to ensure property owners are being good neighbours, and dealing with issues as they arise.
