Our local businesses continue to prepare for a busy summer season, preparing for the new COVID environment with the opening of Queensland's borders and the new vaccination requirements for particular establishments. We are liaising closely with our Chambers and State government to keep our local business community informed of the latest requirements. Future Skills Learning Hub Survey.  Have your say now! 

The Noosa Education & Training Alliance (NETA) and Noosa Council are conducting a study to explore the feasibility of a Future Skills Learning Hub. A Future Skills Learning Hub could expand the choice of learning and study opportunities available in Noosa, and prepare students and our local workforce for the jobs of the future. Help us plan a stronger future for our community and a more diverse and resilient local economy.  The survey closes soon so answer now - it only takes about 5 minutes.

Sunshine Coast Business Awards Winners Announced 
This year's Sunshine Coast Business Awards were back bigger than ever after a COVID hiatus with a packed gala event at the Sunshine Coast Convention Centre. Congratulations to the Award winners highlighting the amazing innovation and breadth of talent on the Sunshine Coast, including Sunshine Coast Business of the Year, Advanced Aquarium Technologies. We're super proud of our local Noosa winners:

Noosa Biosphere Gala & Awards Winners Announced
The Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation held its Wild Koala Gala on 2 November, celebrating community action for koala conservation in the region. Over 180 people frocked up for the cause at Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas. A panel of experts discussed the plight of the koala with a personal message from Dr Jane Goodall and over $50,000 was raised for koala conservation. Congratulations to the winners of the inaugural Noosa Biosphere Awards - Rachel Lyons (Wildlife category); Noosa & District Landcare (Land category); Noosa Environmental Education Hub (People & Economy category) and Noosa Integrated Catchment Association (Water).

Cyber Security Tool for sole traders 

Are you looking to assess and strengthen your business’ cyber security? The Federal Government's upgraded Cyber Security Assessment Tool now provides a better experience for non-employing businesses. Use the tool to find out what your business is doing well and what you can do to make it more cyber secure.  

Extra super step when hiring New Employees
From 1 November 2021, if you have new employees start and they don't choose a super fund, you may have an extra step to take to comply with choice of fund rules. 
You may need to request their ‘stapled super fund’ details from the ATO.
Fair Work Ombudsman
The Fair Work Ombudsman have  launched their new website. With an updated design and structure, it’s now easier to find the information and advice you need, anytime, and on any device around employing people. Also, minimum wages in 21 awards are increasing from 1 November. You can access the pay rates from FWO’s Pay Calculator and Pay guides.  
   
Vaccination measures for business 
The QLD government has announced a range of public health measures once we reach the 80% double dose vaccinated target. Hospitality businesses & entertainment venues will be freed of all restrictions provided all patrons & staff are vaccinated. Food & Manufacturing precinct at Sunshine Coast Airport 

Australia’s first purpose built, end-to-end collaborative food & beverage manufacturing precinct is set to take off with the support of an $8.78 million Federal Gov grant. The Turbine Precinct, led by the Food & Agribusiness Network, is to be located at the Sunshine Coast Airport and will be designed to drive innovation, reduce barriers to scale, increase productivity for food and beverage manufacturers, and will open up new national and international export markets.

The QLD Chamber of Commerce & Industry's latest Pulse Report on Business Conditions is now published. Pulse includes detailed measurements on employment levels, turnover and business profitability – knowledge that adds a great degree of confidence to the strategic planning and future investment decisions of your business.

Liveability Survey 
Noosa Council is committed to working with our community to shape Noosa Shire's future. We are conducting a Liveability Survey to understand the values of people who live and work in Noosa from across the Shire and the business community is invited to participate. 15 minutes of your time will help shape future planning decisions and let us know where we should be investing. Free Buses are back! 
The free Christmas holiday service will commence on 11 December 2021 and run until 23 Jan 2022. The Go Noosa Loop Bus operates approximately every 15 minutes from 7am - 7pm and every 30 minutes from 7pm - 10pm. The loop bus travels in a clockwise direction. More information

Partnership Fund 
The Fund aims to increase the quality and quantity of cyber security professionals in Australia. It encourages collaboration between industry and education to improve Australia’s cyber security capabilities

Council’s Economic Development Grant Program supports projects that will have a positive impact on Noosa’s business environment, economy and encourages local partnerships.
